SECRET BEACH | UNDERWATER NOCTURNE

Taking inspiration from the islands of Siargao and the 1952 painting Girls Bathing by the River by Fernando Amorsolo, Secret Beach explores the raw and naked beauty of the country's islands and women. The Filipino culture in the past especially those in the rural and mountain regions did not see nudity as erotic or sensual but as something natural and beautiful. This is the same with our islands, their beauty lies in their naked and natural form and any kind of gentrification and urbanisation seek to dress up and cover its skin. This is a perspective that seeks to marry harmony and beauty between surface and form.
